Please be informed that this year, the 1st ever World Taijiquan Championships organized by IWUF will be held in the City of ChengDu, province of SiChuan from November 1st to 4th. In this connection, the team trial sanctioned by Wushu Canada for this particular event will be held in Ontario. The preliminary information is listed below:-
Venue: Centennial College (Scarborough Campus)
Date: Saturday 5th July 2014
Time: 9 am – 5 pm
HOW MANY ATHLETES WILL BE SELECTED?
At this team trial, there will be 5 spots in total regardless of the gender. Two of them will be awarded to the top 2 scorers between the age 16 to 35. The remaining three will be awarded to the top 3 scorers between the age 36 to 60. The 5 winners will have to confirm whether they are willing to participate at such international event before 1st August 2014. Otherwise, the unoccupied spot will be awarded to the next highest scorer. At this event, the rules established by IWUF will be adopted. In this connection, a registration package containing all necessary information, such as the scoring and deduction, the time limit of each taolu, will be distributed soonest.
AGE LIMITATION
The date 4th November 2014 will be used to calculate the required age limit. For instance, an athlete’s DOB is 17th November 1953. He is still 60 during the competition. This will be explained again inside the registration package.
WHICH TAOLUS CAN BE PEFORMED AT COMPETITION?
There are 3 kinds of Taolus, one is optional routine, the other is compulsory and the last is demonstration routine.
Optional – Athlete may choreograph his own routine containing the mandatory movements and designated movements but within 3.5 – 4 min. Those movements may consists of various styles, Chen, Yang, Wu and Sun.
Compulsory – Athlete may choose to perform the compulsory Chen / Yang hand form, or Chen / Yang sword but within 3.5 – 4 min.
Demonstration – Athlete may choose to perform any styles of traditional Taijiquan and sword. The time limit 4.5 – 5 min.
WHO IS THE ORGANIZER?
This event is organized by Canadian Organization of Traditional Taiji Quan Associations (COTTQA), fully supported by Wushu Ontario and Wushu Canada.

We need judges to help in 2 rings. Please kindly let us know whether you can commit to take this responsibility. An orientation of the adopted rules will be conducted in April or May. You will be notified the exact date, time and venue.
